LED is more energy-efficient, lasts longer, provides more light per watt and is better for the environment. This makes LED more cost-effective than halogen in both the short and long term.

Halogen lamps were popular for many years, but the technology has been overtaken by LED. The price of LED has dropped significantly, while performance has continued to improve. As a result, halogen is now not only outdated but also expensive to use.

1. Much lower energy consumption
LED converts almost all energy into light, while halogen produces a lot of heat and therefore wastes energy. The result:

2. Much longer lifespan
Halogen lasts an average of 2,000 hours. LED lasts up to 25,000 hours or more. You replace lamps far less often, saving money and effort.

3. Better dimmable and more atmospheric
LED is perfectly dimmable with the right dimmer and maintains its colour temperature better when dimming. Modern filament LEDs also provide a warm glow without the high consumption of halogen.

4. Less heat = safer
Halogen can become very hot and is therefore less suitable for small or insulated spaces. LED stays cool and reduces the risk of overheating.

5. More environmentally friendly
Due to low consumption and longer lifespan, less waste and less CO₂ is produced. It is therefore a more sustainable choice.

6. Halogen is disappearing from the market
Due to European regulations, halogen has largely been phased out. Spare parts and specific wattages are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. LED has completely taken over the market and continues to evolve.

Anyone still using halogen today is paying more for lower performance. LED has become the standard — both technologically and economically.
